When Photographer Dave Bigler set out with this fun couple he knew he was in for a night of laughs, love, and great shots! Carly and Kurt enjoyed their E-Shoot at the historic Saratoga Race Course. After asking the couple to share their love story we couldn’t find better words than what Kurt wrote:
“We both grew up in Albany. It’s funny because we both shared a lot of the same friends but didn’t end up meeting until I graduated college and took a position at the engineering firm where Carly worked. It took a few years (and some failed attempts) before Carly agreed to go on a date with me. But from there, we immediately clicked. We just got each other. We are so different, but also similar in so many ways. Three days in, I told her that this felt different. Lucky for me she agreed and didn’t run the other way.
As time went on and our goals and outlook on life lined up you couldn’t help but think that this was the real deal. When you get excited to spend time with that person, when you look forward to seeing that person, you know you have something special. I love that beautiful smile and our ability to laugh all the time when we are with each other. I love that she loves to do new things and travel just as much as I do.
About the proposal …
It was, in fact, our love for traveling that led me to the very place where I would ask Carly to spend the rest of her life with me. I got down on one knee on top of Submarine Rock in Sedona, AZ. I recruited the driver we had on an off-road jeep excursion a year earlier to drive us out there. It was on top of that rock exactly one year earlier I stepped up there and something spoke to me. It told me this was the place I was going to ask Carly to marry me. The 360-degree view of the beautiful red rock and mountains surrounding us just blew me away. It was the perfect spot to start our life together.
About the E-Shoot …
One thing I told Carly early on is my love for horse racing. There is just something about those cool summer mornings at Saratoga when you know a big day of racing is on tap. The vibe, the city, the people are something you can’t get anywhere else. So naturally to get me excited about an engagement shoot what better place to do it than the Saratoga Race Track?! It was so much fun to have the whole track to ourselves and experience it in this way.
As we march forward in life day by day I only hope our bond grows stronger and stronger and that one-day, years down the line we still enjoy our company, our laughs, and our adventures as much as we do now.”
We absolutely can’t wait to celebrate with these two next Spring!
